KPI’s Sustainable Practices
Sustainability and inclusivity are at the core of my business. I am committed to environmental responsibility- reducing use of AI, purchasing gear and equipment second hand when I can, and respecting nature whenever I am photographing outdoors. This sustainable consciousness extends beyond my business and into my personal life as well in shopping second hand, reducing waste and shopping at sustainable stores.
A larger component to helping the wedding industry be more sustainable is promoting other conscious vendors. Especially those such as florists and caterers which, if not using a sustainable business, can generate a lot of waste.
Sustainability to me also includes a strong commitment to people. This means setting healthy boundaries to ensure the business remains personally sustainable and life-giving. KPI is inclusive and welcoming to all, proudly rooted in the queer community and grounded in social justice values. The business supports organizations that serve marginalized communities and consistently seeks to listen to, amplify, and celebrate diverse voices.
The Eco Conscious Wedding Basics-
There is plenty of product already available on this planet for you to have a stellar wedding celebration! Reuse what’s already here- rent decor, find decor at thrift shops or at online markets. Find apparel second hand and revamp it at an alterations shop (seamstresses can do anything you should see the before and after of my revamped wedding dress!) or rent apparel!
Reuse
Are your wedding favors going to be items your guests actually use? Can you use compostable products? Find a sustainable caterer or florist? These are ways you can reduce your impact on the planet!
Reduce
Sell or give away your wedding items after your event. Choose products that you may be able to use again or choose items that can be put in the recycling.
